Extension of existing Milk Collection Center (MCC) at Orong under Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag is being funded by CARLEP-IFAD Programme and implemented by Dzongkhag Livestock Sector, Samdrup Jongkhar in collaboration with Regional Livestock Development Center (RLDC), Kanglung and Regional Agricultural and Marketing Cooperatives (RAMCO), Mongar.

The extension is being done to accommodate two milk chillers of 500 liter capacity each. Orong dairy group produces 500-600 liters of fresh milk daily. The group collects milk from their members to the MCC until it is delivered to Samdrup Jongkhar town and then market to India. 78 group members (19 female, 59 male) of Orong Dairy Group will be benefited through this support.

The group chairman said, “once the construction is complete, this structure is going to be an important asset of the group and we are responsible for operation and maintenance”.

The Milk Collection Center is being constructed with fund support of Nu. 0.57 million.
