The trends in projected demand, emphasizes the need to focus on developing integrated value chains for livestock products. Therefore, CARLEP shall focus on Dairy Value chain development in line with Accelerated Livestock Development Program (ALDP) and 11th FYP by re-orienting livestock production from subsistence to commercial mode, putting in place enabling policy, guidelines, infrastructure adequate financial and human resources. The programme aims to establish 150 new Dairy farmers’ groups in the region with supports in breed improvement, sheds and silo pits, pasture development and capacity building.

The programme in consultation with respective Dzongkhags have selected Gewogs with demonstrated production potential, relative accessibility to road and marketing channels, demonstrated interest and commitment of communities and farmers’ organization for Dairy Value Chain.
