A two-day Mushroom Skilling Program commenced today at Maedtsho Gewog in collaboration with the Gewog Administration, with technical support from ARDC Wengkhar and ARDSC Khangma and fund support from CARLEP. The program features a youth trainer from Khoma, aiming to encourage out-of-school youth to take up farming while also motivating the trainer to further pursue in Mushroom farming.

A total of 35 participants, including 7 males and 28 females, are taking part in the training, which focuses on equipping them with technical knowledge of oyster mushroom cultivation. As part of the hands-on training, the participants will inoculate 53 bottles of mushroom spawn under the guidance of technical experts. Following this, they will collectively inoculate an additional 635 bottles of spawn, with an expected production of 3 metric tons. The harvested mushrooms will be marketed to the Yongichu Project.

This initiative is expected to empower local farmers with practical skills, contributing to sustainable livelihood opportunities in the region.
