Programme Areas

The programme shall strive to uplift the poverty and build resilient livelihoods in the communities (Gewogs) that does not fall under commercial/value chain. Innovation such as Permaculture and climate smart agriculture will be promoted to address the poverty and climate change issues. Climate change mitigation and adaptation technologies such as biogas and stress tolerant verities of vegetable seeds and horticulture sapling will also be promoted. Resilient local poultry breed will be promoted in the communities under Targeted Intervention. The programme shall also promote ‘Climate Smart Village’ in every programme Dzongkhags. Under this approach, the programme will support those Gewogs and communities that are far flung (limited road access), relatively poor (high poverty incidence rate) and highly vulnerable to impact of climate change.
