ARDC Wengkhar Conducts Seminar on Credit Investment in Farming for BDBL Managers of Eastern Region
The Agriculture Research and Development Center, Wengkhar organized a seminar on 16th September, 2017 to share potential areas of credit investments and enhance implementation modalities in credit supported farm enterprises. Program Director of ARDC Wengkhar made a presentation on “Credit Support in Farming: Updates and key intervention areas of support”. ARDC Wengkhar recently developed the Protected Agriculture and Organic Fertilizer production model for adoption by interested entrepreneurs. So, Program Director emphasized on taking up of Protected Agriculture model as one of the main idea to attract youth in farming, although initial cost may be high but there is no tedious work to do like traditional method of farming. Such improved farming technology will have advantage over small land holders to enhance production.
Bhutan Development Bank Limited and ARDC agreed on promoting Protected Agriculture Models targeting Youth Entrepreneurs. Under this program, interested entrepreneurs will be identified and implement jointly with ARDC and Dzongkhag/ Gewog agriculture extension provide TA while credit supports will be provided by BDBL.
Participants visited the recently established Protected Agriculture Research and Demonstration site and the Organic Fertiliser Production site at Wengkhar. Key Researchers from the centre and OPM CARLEP also attended the seminar.
The program was organized by ARDC Wengkhar with fund support of CARLEP IFAD.
