Training on Pest management and vegetable production techniques conducted in Menbi

October 2nd, 2017

Menbi is one of the vegetable commercial site selected under CARLEP from Lhuentse Dzongkhag. The gewog is potential in growing various vegetables like Cabbage, Cauliflower, Potato, garlic and chilli.

However, the post-harvest losses and the pest and disease infection are the underlying challenges faced by many vegetable growers in the gewog.

Therefore, a day long training on ‘vegetable production training’ was organized by the Gewog Agriculture Extension on 29th September, 2017. The training was focused mainly on disseminating the techniques on pest management of vegetables through homemade pesticides. The farmers were also trained on Post-harvest management, techniques of rice seed selection and production of seeds for Cabbage, Broccoli and Spinach from their own kitchen garden.

The training was attended by 82 farmers (44 female, 38 male) from the gewog under the fund support of CARLEP.
