Planted asparagus in Gulibi

June 29th, 2017

A total of 15,000 asparagus saplings were planted on 1.5 acres of land at the ‘User Right System Pilot Project’ in Gulibi, which is undertaken by 23 youth farmers under the initiative of ‘His Majesty’s People’s Project.’

The plantation which was funded through CARLEP-IFAD’s support to ARDC was led by Mr. Karma Tenzin and Sonam Gyeltshen of ARDC (Agriculture Research and Development Center), Wengkhar and the Geog Agriculture Extension.

In the 15 acres of the total land at Gulibe that is brought under commercial Organic farming, upland paddy, soya bean, chili, passion fruits are the main standing crops assisted by the ARDC and the Dzongkhag Agriculture Office under CARLEP’s funding.

With all these supports to the youth farmers, CARLEP expects to meet one of its intention of ‘active involvement of youth and women in value chain activities.’
