Fourth Batch of Lead Farmers Training Begins

Agriculture Research and Development Centre (ARDC) Wengkhar is coordinating the fourth batch of lead farmers training to 33 lead farmers from six eastern dzongkhags with fund support from CARLEP-IFAD starting today, 26th November 2019 at the center. The training aims to train farmers who will be the lead farmers in farmer to farmer extension approach.
In this training, 36 % of the participants are women which is the highest so far and 42 % of the participants are youths who are enthusiastic to lead others. This shows that youth and women’s participation in the lead farmers’ training program is increasing.
During these three days of training, the lead farmers will be familiarized with one of the 4 module courses “Awareness of the farming technology”. Throughout the training, the participants will be provided hands-on practices and theory on various agricultural practices and management.
By the end of every module course, lead farmers will return to their respective regions and start implementing what has been demonstrated.
The module 1 training will end on 28th November 2019 and will be followed by module 2 on “Crop establishment and management practices” in January 2020.
