Farmers Contribute Chilli during the COVID-19 Crises

The farmers of Bephushot under Yallang gewog and Wangrimo under Ramjar Gewog, Trashi Yangtse have produced 1.449 tonnes of chili this season. A total of 0.118 tonnes of chili will be contributed by the farmers to the COVID-19 Taskforce to be distributed to quarantine centers, and 1.331 tonnes of chili will be handed over to the National Vegetable Management Taskforce (NVMT) initiated by PPD, MoAF. The NVM Taskforce will distribute and market the chili at a fair price in the Thimphu Centenary Farmers’ Market and other thromde markets, ensuring a constant supply of vegetables in the country.

A truckload of chili is expected to reach Thimphu today.
