2nd batch of lead farmers completed the 1st course

With the succesful completion of the lead farmers training by 1st batch of 26 lead farmers in September this year, the 2nd batch of the lead farmers has completed the 1st course on 9th November, 2017.
28 (10 female, 18 male) farmers including 11 Youth nominated by the respective DAOs and Geog Agriculture Officers of six Eastern Dzongkhags have attended the training at ARDC, Wengkhar.
The lead Farmers training is spread across the year in four different courses. The 1st course was on ‘awareness on farming technology options.’
At the end of the all the four courses, a model farm will be established with each of the farmers to demonstrate and replicate the skills and the knowledge that they are acquainted with.
The training program is funded by CARLEP- IFAD and technically supported by ARDC, IFPP NPHC and RAMCO.
CARLEP supports the lead farmers model to increase the agriculture extension services in the region which will in fact lead to commercialization of agriculture products.
